Entanglement test on a microscopic-macroscopic system.
A macrostate consisting of N approximately 3.5x10{4} photons in a quantum superposition and entangled with a far apart single-photon state (microstate) is generated. Precisely, an entangled photon pair is created by a nonlinear optical process; then one photon of the pair is injected into an optical parametric amplifier operating for any input polarization state, i.e., into a phase-covariant cl...
متن کاملCellular Automata Simulation of a Bistable Reaction-Diffusion System: Microscopic and Macroscopic Approaches
The Cellular Automata method has been used to simulate the pattern formation of the Schlögl model as a bistable Reaction-Diffusion System. Both microscopic and macroscopic Cellular Automata approaches have been considered and two different methods for obtaining the probabilities in the microscopic approach have been mentioned. The results show the tendency of the system towards the more sta...
متن کاملMacroscopic entanglement by entanglement swapping.
We present a scheme for entangling two micromechanical oscillators. The scheme exploits the quantum effects of radiation pressure and it is based on a novel application of entanglement swapping, where standard optical measurements are used to generate purely mechanical entanglement. The scheme is presented by first solving the general problem of entanglement swapping between arbitrary bipartite...
متن کاملEffective dynamics of a coupled microscopic - macroscopic stochastic system ∗
A conceptual model for microscopic-macroscopic slow-fast stochastic systems is considered. A dynamical reduction procedure is presented in order to extract effective dynamics for this kind of systems. Under appropriate assumptions, the effective system is shown to approximate the original system, in the sense of a probabilistic convergence.
متن کاملMacroscopic-microscopic Mass Models
We discuss recent developments in macroscopic-microscopic mass models, including the 1992 finite-range droplet model, the 1992 extended-ThomasFermi Strutinsky-integral model, and the 1994 Thomas-Fermi model, with particular emphasis on how well they extrapolate to new regions of nuclei. We also address what recent developments in macroscopic-microscopic mass models are teaching us about such ph...
